The following table contains a list of URLs that can be added to any site link in order to reach different areas of the SharePoint administration functionality without the need to navigate through the GUI.

In order to use these shortcuts, simply add the URL from the table below to the end of the site.
As an example, to get to the Recycle Bin from the IT home page:

Change this: http://siteURL/SitePages/Home.aspx
To this: http://siteURL/_layouts/AdminRecycleBin.aspx

Remove ‘SitePages’ and the aspx page and add the URL from the table below.

Users and Permissions

  • People and Groups:     /_layouts/people.aspx
  • Site Collection Administrators:     /_layouts/mngsiteadmin.aspx
  • Manage User permissions:     /_layouts/user.aspx
  • Lists with unique permissions:     /_layouts/uniqperm.aspx
  • Check Users permissions:     /_layouts/chkperm.aspx
  • Master Pages:     /_layouts/ChangeSiteMasterPage.aspx

Site Look and Feel

  • Site Title/Description/Icon:     /_layouts/prjsetng.aspx
  • Navigation Settings:     /_layouts/AreaNavigationSettings.aspx
  • Page Layout and Site Templates:     /_layouts/AreaTemplateSettings.aspx
  • Welcome Page:     /_layouts/AreaWelcomePage.aspx
  • Tree View:     /_layouts/navoptions.aspx
  • Site Content Types:     /_layouts/mngctype.aspx


  • Web Part Gallery:     /_catalogs/wp
  • List Template Gallery:     /_catalogs/lt

General Admin

Another very useful shortcut is for editing a page. Add the following URL parameters to the end URL after ‘.aspx’.
